ResumeVerbs

About

ResumeVerbs is a free, static reference of strong resume action verbs and power words. Every entry is written in plain language, grouped by the skill it shows (leadership, achievement, analysis, communication, and so on), and reviewed by our editorial team.

The idea started the way most good resume ideas do: a hiring manager kept seeing the same five verbs on every resume. "Managed", "helped", "responsible for" — none of it said what a person actually did. This site is our answer to that. One verb per page, with what it means, what it replaces, when it lands, and an ATS note.

The editor behind the word lists has spent years reading resumes in staffing and operations roles, and now reviews job documents as a side practice. The site is a personal project, not a career-coaching service.

The core rule of the list is simple: a verb is worth using when it names an action you can prove. That is why every page pairs the word with a sample bullet and a metric. You can take the pattern, keep the honesty, and apply it to your own experience.

We keep the word choices deliberately short and practical. Each page answers the same four questions: what does the verb mean, what does it replace, when should you use it, and what does the ATS see? That consistency is what makes the reference fast to use.

These pages are fully static. We collect no personal data, run no accounts, and set no tracking cookies unless you later consent to analytics.

Nothing here is a guarantee of any interview outcome. A stronger verb helps; your real results do the rest.
